Abyss a-Go-Go Opening Feb. 17 Chinese New Year Pattaya Walking Street

Chinese-owned Abyss a-Go-Go gallops onto Pattayaโ€™s nightlife scene Tuesday with a Year of the Horse grand opening featuring a hybrid concept unique to Walking Street.

Abyss a-Go-Go Manager Danny Farside dubbed the Feb. 17, 8 p.m. debut as a grand opening, but, in truth, it will be more soft than grand as first-time go-go owner Kingman, the former manager at nearby Dragon a-Go-Go, gets the three-floor venue moving.

Abyss a-Go-Go, which had its Buddhist blessing at 7 a.m. Monday, opens on Chinese New Year with a hybrid concept that blends a traditional go-go with a multi-floor gentlemenโ€™s club layout, a format never seen on Walking Street.

Farside wrote in the Abyss a-Go-Go Facebook group that the the two upper floors โ€œare like a gentlemanโ€™s club, with comfy seats for you and ladies to sit close together, drink and party together.โ€

Three floors above street level also ensures there will be more than a little hanky-panky far away from police eyes. Think the second floor of Soi LK Metroโ€™s Kink, but more intimate.

Abyss a-Go-Go Rises from Deep

The new venue takes over the former Okeanos space sandwiched between Bliss and the closed Ka-Boom, hopes to fare better than the previous Chinese operations in the same location.

Before Okeanos, the space housed the Chinese-owned Panda and Gold go-go bars, both of which went bust during the Covid shutdowns.

In late 2023, Chinese investors revived the location as Okeanos โ€” a name drawn from Greek mythology, where Oceanus was the primordial Titan god of the great world-encircling river.

Okeanos stood out visually but struggled to function as a working go-go. The room featured high ceilings, a bright yellow neon look and a square center stage backed by LED panels, but nearly half the venue was laid out as semi-private VIP seating, creating an awkward mix between agogo sightlines and lounge-style booths that never quite found its rhythm.

The design drew curiosity early but failed to build consistent traffic, particularly as larger group-backed venues nearby dominated staffing and walk-in volume.

Okeanos closed during the 2025 low season, resurfaced briefly under another revision last summer, and now gives way to Abyss a-Go-Go.

Still Going It Alone

The rare Walking Street go-go not part either the Pin-Up, Shark or Palace groups, Abyss a-Go-Go will try to make an independent go of it with Kingman and Farside.

Abyss a-Go-Goโ€™s well-known Chinese owner has known Farside for years and recruited him for Abyss a-Go-Go in December shortly after Farside joined newly opened Eden a-Go-Go, part of the Pin-Up Group.

Coming to Abyss a-Go-Go from not only Eden but Windmill Club and other bars, Farside, a DJ, has pushed the opening aggressively online, calling the launch โ€œthe next step in Walking Streetโ€™s evolutionโ€ and promising a high-energy opening night with drinks flowing and dancers performing.

โ€œThe hottest girls, the best music and the best laser & light shows in town,โ€ he wrote on Facebook.

Farside went even harder in a post promoting the grand opening on Facebook, promising a big night and a big lineup.

โ€œThe most gorgeous ladies on the planet, best club atmosphere with friendly staff,โ€ the hyperbolic Farside wrote. โ€œDrinks will flow… Ladies will dance, come on over and let us entertain you.โ€
