Nana Plaza’s annual “party of the year” becomes the Party of the Decade Sept. 27 for the Billboard 10th anniversary.
While technically Billboard has been open since 2011, it’s now been 10 years since the current American management took over and elevated Billboard to the pinnacle of Thailand’s go-go bar industry, both in terms of quality and popularity.
Billboard 10th Anniversary Bookings Open
Prebooking for tables at the perennially sold-out event is open now via the Billboard VIP Club on the Line messaging app. (Membership is free). Table bookings require prepurchase of two bottles for the Billboard 10th Anniversary.
If you’re not prebooking, get there early. The Billboard 10th Anniversary Party will be packed from 8 p.m. with every year seeing a line of people waiting to get in as soon as doors open.
Why? There’s no go-go bar ownership group in Thailand that does parties like the Billboard 10th Anniversary.
There will be ore than 100 ladies dressed to the nines in custom costumes of their choice, a free buffet of pizza and side dishes all night, plus a limited-edition Billboard 10th Anniversary drink tumbler for the first 200 guests.
No Billboard Babe of the Year
The Billboard 10th Anniversary Party will celebrated 10 years of Billboard Babes – and there have been many, many, many – but, for the first time in a few years, there will be no Billboard Babe of the Year pageant.
The announcement that there would be no pageant prompted both smiles and frowns. The pageant is hugely popular and – for the ladies – highly lucrative, with more than 40,000-baht in prize money handed out each year.
At the same time, the voting system – which required audience members to yell and scream as loud as they could – with results measured by a decibel meter that routinely hit 125 – was widely decried, by both staff and guests.
Ownership actually sighed relief when the final decision was made to do away with the pageant for the Billboard 10th Anniversary, saving everyone’s eardrums.
Cash Prizes for the Ladies
While the Billboard 10th Anniversary won’t feature a lucrative Babe of the Year pageant, the ladies won’t go broke. Billboard is planning to reward both staff and dancers with cash prizes, possibly through a lucky draw or merit-based awards. You’ll have to attend to see how the girls get paid.
Of course, getting paid is never a problem at parties like the Billboard 10th Anniversary. Numerous dollar (not baht) millionaires attend every year and the “whales” – as well as ownership – love to lavish tips on the girls.
Every year’s party sees hundreds of thousands of baht in 20-to-100-baht notes showered over the bar all night. By the end of the evening, ladies are walking around with shopping bags full of cash.
Billboard Parties are a Spectacle
The Billboard 10th Anniversary will be a lavish spectacle, just like all the group’s parties, which will continue in November with the Butterflies 9th Anniversary and December’s double Playmates Party.
All are must-do events on the Bangkok nightlife-lover’s social calendar. The Billboard 10th Anniversary is just the beginning.
