Dreams Fantasy 1, which opened this week on the site of the original Heaven Above, is the complete antithesis of the legendary, all-white go-go bar.
Not only is the club at the top of the stairs on Pattaya’s Soi Diamond not a go-go bar, it’s jet black inside, owned by Indians and devoid of any staff or customers.
It’s a mystery why it’s called Dreams Factory 1, as, at this rate, there’s zero chance there will be a Dreams Factory 2.
Dreams Fantasy No Heaven Above Revival
For those that remember the original Heaven Above at its peak – which closed on Soi Diamond on March 7, 2020 – there were few others that had the same mystique. It had an all-white interior – contrary to the usual black – and its small, low stage was stocked with a large roster of gorgeous girls who also made guest appearances in the Creampie Thais porn website. At Heaven Above, you truly could have the pornstar experience.
It’s location – at the top of a flight of stairs next to the Diamond Hotel far up Soi Diamond – was terrible. But it didn’t matter. Guys flocked to the bar not only for the girls or the attached Galaxy Suites short-time hotel, but the people behind it. The founders of Heaven Above went on to start some of Pattaya’s most famous go-gos, including The Windmill Club and Coyotees. That group didn’t stay togther long, but their genius built a legendary place on Soi Diamond.
Since Heaven Above reinvented itself on Soi Boomerang as a gentlemen’s club, no one else has managed to bring new life to the Soi Diamond site, despite having the turnkey Galaxy hotel attached to sweeten the deal. A South Korean man opened Heaven Above 2.0 afterward, but it fell to earth within months.
So when the sign went up last month for Dreams Fantasy, hopes leapt high.
Indians Move Into Soi Diamond
It was not to be. Dreams Factory, from what its Indian waiters and waitresses said Friday, is a new Indian-centric nightclub, not a go-go bar. It’s also the first Indian business north of Pin-Up on Walking Street.
The interior of Dreams Fantasy is all black, from the walls, to the pedastool dancer stages to the floor. There are virtually no tables or chairs and there was no band on the music stage.
Staff said the bar will have live music. When? Who knows. From the looks of it, Dreams Fantasy will close before it ever gets off the ground.
Other than the one sign, there’s no promotion. No barkers. No happy hour deals. No menus even obvious. There’s no fancy lighting, nothing on the walls and no furniture to speak of. It’s basically Heaven Above gutted to the walls and painted black.
Maybe it’s just a bad dream…
