Low season is in full swing in Thailand and go-go bars for sale are popping up everywhere.
Go-go bars for sale are a common sight this time of year, as operating funds run as thin as customers for owners who don’t plan ahead. Smart owners bank cash during flush times, knowing May-September are going to be rough.
This year, with early rain, Donald Trump’s Iran war loss still crushing tourism and Thailand’s government shooting itself in the foot by cutting visa stays for its biggest demographic group, low season has hit hard and fast and the number of go-go bars for sale has multiplied.
Two go-go bars for sale on Soi Cowboy already have changed hands this month and, in Nana Plaza, price tags are out on seven go-go bars for sale. Notably, none of those go-go bars for sale being shopped are ladyboy bars.
Prices being asked for the Nana Plaza go-go bars for sale are laughable: None of them will sell at the initial prices. And several have been on the market at those stratospheric levels for years, so the owner’s true motivation to sell can be questioned.
Clearly, some go-go bosses are doing their best Bangkok taxi impression, waiting outside Nana Plaza hoping for a sucker to come by and get taken for a ride without the meter.
The Party Is Over
The clearest example of that is Party in Nana Plaza, which was purchased in November 2023 for 10 million baht two years ago by the Japanese owner of several Hokkaido hostess bars. He now wants to sell it for 21 million baht, even though Party is worth far less than when he bought it.
In the years since the former Erotica and Playskool go-go bars became Party, virtually nothing has been done to improve the bar. In fact, the opposite is true, with the previous Jacuzzi ripped out. No visible renovations were made and no marketing effort was made. The owner spends most of the time in Japan, leaving his former go-go dancer girlfriend to run the bar. It has been as successful as you’d imagine.
Commissions are being offered to anyone who helps sell Party and, according to one agent, the bossman might be willing to accept 15 million baht, a still ridiculous sum considering a full refit would be needed.
Russian Roulette
For a (very) short while, K-69, another one of the Nana Plaza go-go bars for sale, no longer held the title of the smallest go-go in Thailand. Behind, on the ground floor, has closed, however, making the 84-sq.-meter chrome pole palace the tittle-holder again.
The middle-floor, corner bar was the Casanova ladyboy bar until the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, it has been known as Rainbow 69, Private 69 and, most-recently, K-69.
It can be yours for 13 million baht, which is more than double it was sold for to two French national in September 2023 who changed it from Rainbow to Private, then called it quits nine months later.
They, however, made out better than most, selling it to the Russian owner of Kino for 9 million baht.
By floorspace alone, K-69 is not worth close to 13 million baht. But, after opening his new Cheeky beer bar in the space that once was Lucky Luke’s Tiki Bar, the Russian no longer has a need for both K-69 and Kino (the former Essence and Whiskey go-gos).
Rabbits and Rainbows
Then there is the laundry list of go-go bars for sale operated under the Rainbow and Bunny brands.
There’s no universe in which Rainbow 4 and 5 would be for sale. And the Rainbow 1 ladyboy cabaret has been very successful since it and Rainbow 2 were sold in February 2025.
The same cannot be said for Rainbow 2, a girly bar in Nana Plaza’s back right corner, sandwiched between two ladyboy bars. It’s a no-go zone for straight guys and, despite a stage full of cute girls, it has struggled mightily.
It can be yours for an asking price of just 18 million baht, according to the official Rainbow-Bunny price list.
Also on the price list is the top-floor Rainbow 3, which has been one of the go-go bars for sale in Nana Plaza virtually from the day it opened as Enter in 2019. Current asking price is 15 million baht, a mark down from 20 million baht last year.
On the Bunny side, Bunny 2 on the ground floor is on sale for 18 million baht – the same sum a buyer had agreed to pay two years previously only to be turned down.
And the relatively new Bunny 3 and 5, both on the top floor, are being hocked for 18 million and 25 million baht, respectively.
Bunny 3 is closed and reportedly includes not only the bar, but an upper floor that was previously part of The Hollywood Inn short-time hotels, before such hotels were closed in April 2023.
Bunny 5, atop the stairs next to the salon, has the go-go bar, an upstairs pool hall and even access to the roof where a lounge had been planned. It’s unlikely, however, Nana Plaza ownership would ever allow the public on the roof where it’s expensive cable-anchored roof system is installed.
A Buyer’s Market?
The asking prices for these seven go-go bars for sale are clearly stupid and unrealistic right?
Maybe not. The owner of several bars in Bangkok and Pattaya who previously used to sell go-go bars summed things up perfectly Friday:
“Bud, it’s Nana. There will always be someone interested.”
