Two years after quietly opening above Tycoon A-Go-Go, the Lace Lounge 2nd Anniversary March 27 celebrates the success of Nana Plaza’s most discreet upstairs bar.
The small lounge tucked up a steep staircase from Tycoon was never designed to compete with the big go-go bars in the plaza. Instead, Lace built its reputation as a quieter speakeasy – a place where guests could step away from Nana’s pounding music and packed stages for something closer to a late-night cocktail bar.
That formula worked and it’s time for the Lace Lounge 2nd anniversary.
In the time before the Lace Lounge 2nd anniversary. the intimate venue has developed a steady following among regular Nana Plaza visitors looking for a more relaxed setting without leaving the complex entirely.
Nana Plaza’s Upstairs Hideaway
Lace Lounge sits directly above Tycoon A-Go-Go, accessible by a staircase near the bar’s entrance or through a private internal stairway connecting the two venues.
The room itself is small — roughly 40-50 seats — with plush sofas, soft lighting and a small central stage that serves more as atmosphere than full-scale go-go production. Music is typically lower than the surrounding bars, allowing conversation while dancers rotate through short stage appearances.
The lounge concept was straightforward from the start: an intimate club where guests could bring a favorite Tycoon dancer upstairs or spend time with one of the lounge’s own ladies in a quieter setting.
For many Nana regulars, that mix of privacy and proximity to the action downstairs became the appeal.
Small Room, Big Party Nights
When Lace Lounge marked its first anniversary last year, the tiny venue filled quickly and stayed packed deep into the night. Guests crowded the sofas and bar stools while dancers rotated across the stage and drinks circulated through the room.
Anniversary parties at Nana Plaza often draw an unusually mixed crowd — longtime expats, nightlife vloggers, visiting tourists and bar industry regulars — and Lace’s compact layout tends to intensify the energy once the room reaches capacity.
Expect more of the same Friday night for the Lace Lounge 2nd anniversary.
A Different Pace Inside Nana
Part of Lace Lounge’s identity comes from the contrast with the rest of the plaza.
While most Nana bars run loud music and bright lighting designed to pull customers off the walkways, Lace leans toward a lounge atmosphere: softer lighting, slower pacing and cocktail service alongside the usual beer and shot lineup.
The bar also features a small outdoor smoking balcony overlooking Sukhumvit Soi 4, giving guests a rare chance to step outside and watch the nightlife traffic below before heading back inside.
It’s an unusual feature for Nana Plaza, where most venues are fully enclosed.
Lace Lounge 2nd Anniversary Celebration
The Lace Lounge 2nd anniversary party begins at 10 p.m. Friday, March 27, upstairs from Tycoon A-Go-Go in Nana Plaza.
Given the size of the venue, arriving early may not be a bad strategy. Just hang in Tycoon until the Lace Lounge 2nd anniversary gets underway.
Lace Lounge doesn’t hold many people, and once the sofas and bar seats fill up the room tends to stay packed well into the early hours.
That’s part of the charm.
In a plaza known for big stages and flashing lights, the small upstairs lounge has spent two years proving there’s still demand for a quieter corner of Nana — even if the Lace Lounge 2nd anniversary gets just as loud.
The anniversary also lands during one of Nana Plaza’s busiest stretches of the year, when late-season visitors and long-time regulars mix across the complex. For Lace Lounge, the night is less about spectacle and more about atmosphere — the kind of tight, crowded room where conversations, music and the occasional toast blend into one long Bangkok night.
