Redlight Report: Thailand Nightlife, Supernova’s Ejecta, Bad Bunny, 6 Beach Balls & Dancing Mamas

Redlight Report Thailand Nightlife May 2026 Dave the Rave Digital a-Go-Go

Sunday is Visakha Bucha Day but, except at Nana Plaza, the naughty Thailand nightlife playgrounds will be open.

Lumpini District police, who govern Nana Plaza and Soi 11, have taken a strict view of what Thailand nightlife is allowed on Buddhist holidays despite Thailand’s alcohol laws being more than a year ago.

Cops overseeing Patpong, Pattaya and Soi Cowboy have no problem with Thailand nightlife opening May 31.

Publication of a new Alcohol Control Act in the Royal Gazette on May 9, 2025 finally allowed for booze to be sold in limited circumstances on the five major Buddhist holidays: Macha Bucha, Visakha Bucha, Asanha Bucha Day, Khao Phansa  and Auk Phansa.

All of Patpong’s and Pattaya’s bars will be allowed to open for the Buddhist holidays with Bada Bing and Radio City expected to be heaving and the premier clubs in Thailand’s oldest Thailand nightlife district.

On Soi Cowboy, Suzie Wong and Baccara will lead the roster of open bars. The Stumble Inn Group’s Hot Lips and its two ladyboy bars will be closed, based on their history on other holidays. Vicky’s Secret also is giving their staff a well-deserved night off.

The holiday falls on a Sunday, which normally is not a big night for Thailand nightlife, but with the observed holiday on Monday, it could be welcome big night for a Thailand nightlife sector hit hard by Iran war downturn.

Supernova Deleptonizating

Two months into its ejecta, Supernova on Soi Cowboy is deleptonizating into a solid choice for Soi Cowboys go-go fans.

For the non-scientists, Supernova exploded onto the scene April 1, throwing off lots of potential, but mostly vapor when it came to sustained fun. There were only a handful of ladies on stage and none were supermodels. The layout is odd, but the service quality remained Crazy House Group-good.

At the end of May 2026, however, Supernova seems to have gotten its footing on the Thailand nightlife scene.

Recent visits have seen not only a doubling in the number of dancers on stage, but a major upgrade in quality.

One such new addition came to Supernova from Kink on Soi LK Metro in Pattaya. She also shook her ass briefly at Crazy House, but found the antics around the corner too close to the icky business that goes on upstairs at Kink.

Supernova isn’t nearly as hands-on, although its dress code remains similarly skimpy.

Another positive development at Supernova is the introduction of computerized – rather than hand-written – bills. The same system also was installed in sister bar Bad Beach.

One thing not coming to Supernova is an upstairs gentlemen’s club.

The former Kazy Kozy has redeveloped the second floor, but has no plans to open it as a Thailand nightlife gents club as some Thailand nightlife no-nothing claimed on Twitter.

“Happy New Year” posters from two years ago still hang on the walls and the rest looks like your buddy’s basement, with pool table & drum kit. Things could change, but not until next high season, at least.

Beach Ball Chaos at Spanky’s

One of Redlight Reports favorite shows – although the boss calls it a “mini show” – at Spanky’s in Nana Plaza is the beach ball free-for-all.

A half-dozen large-size beach balls are inflated and tossed from the stage to the crowd, which bats them around and back to the stage.

Brought out at the same time as the beach balls is the mop. Service staff roll their eyes and groan each time the show is run because, every single time – every time – beers and drinks will get spilled.

“Two,” a mop-wielding maid said when asked to predict how many beers would hit the floor, knocked off Spanky’s narrow tables by a big plastic ball.

“Three,” Redlight Report predicted this night.

The waitress turned out to be correct.

Management accepts the breakage and spillage with every show and replaces the drinks free.

Bunny 3 Closes

New frontage turned out not to be the trick for Bunny 3 in Nana Plaza. The top-floor bar that took over the Balcony Bar space closed May 1, two months after making its exterior look like the more-successful Rainbow Thailand nightlife bars.

Owned by Nana’s largest tenant, Bunny 3 and 5 (what happened to 4?) have struggled to find customers. Bunny 5, next to the salon, also is for sale and the owner was negotiating with the Nana Group, operators Angelwitch, Lollipop, Obsession and B-52, to buy Bunny 5 and its upstairs pool hall.

A Nana Group partner confirmed the talks three weeks ago, but said they were not close to a deal. Nothing has happened in the weeks since and Bunny 5 remains open under current ownership.

Things You Don’t Want to See in a Go-Go

There are a lot of things a guy doesn’t want to see in a Thailand nightlife bar. Naked men is the obvious (and too frequent) no-no. Right up there with drunk nude dudes on stage is a stage full of mamasans.

But that’s exactly what guests at Long Gun were treated to around 1 a.m. on a recent night. Thankfully, all were fully clothed. Although, to be fair, some of them were slimmer than the wide matrons doing Long Gun’s most-degrading stupid-pussy-tricks shows.

Go Tonight, Come Tomorrow

Soi Cowboy Bangkok Thailand

Bar owners, in both Bangkok and Pattaya, have found a new lever to pull when it comes to “motivating” inherently lazy bargirls.

With girls (and ladyboys) now pulling in 4,000-8,000 baht (or more?) for short- and long-time trysts with customers, they have less incentive than ever to work steady hours. We’re not even talking the industry standard six nights a week. They don’t even work five if they don’t have to.

It’s not typecasting Thais to say they, on the whole, don’t think about the future. It’s all about now. If a bargirl scores 8,000 baht for a longtime (plus their daily 500-1,000-baht salary plus 100 baht for every drink she downed), she has enough money to get her through the next few days until she pisses it all away and has to go back to work in the Thailand nightlife world.

That wreaks havoc with staffing at bars, which want the girls to work steady, predictable hours. But, recently, a light bulb went on with bar bosses who have come up with a rule unheard of 10 or 20 years ago when a bedroom romp with a customer only netted a girl about 1,000-3,000 baht.

Adopted from ladyboys in Pattaya to girlie bars in Bangkok, the new rule is that if they barfine on, say, a Monday, they have to show up for work on Tuesday. If they don’t, their salary will be cut for a full barfine and their salary for that day.

Of course, barfine and salary are less than the amount the girl collects from a customer for the mattress gymnastics, but the principal of it has been enough to get the majority of barfining staffers to show up for work the next day.
