The place to be in Pattaya Monday night is the Tantra BBQ Party, a birthday celebration for everybody’s new best friend on Walking Street.
The Tantra BBQ party is for the new Japanese boss, a relative newcomer to both Thailand and the go-go industry who is turning 32. There will be a large hog on the spit-roast – police permitting – and undoubtedly many, many Jagerbombs all night.
It’s a bit odd that the man behind the Tantra BBQ Party is a bit shy online, as pretty much everyone on Walking Street knows – and likes – him, even though he only took over Tantra in June. He’s, in fact, everyone’s new best friend, a strange thing in Pattaya, a town infamous for bar owners banning rival owners and managers from their places.
Genuine & Generous
“He’s a great guy,” said the manager of a large Walking Street go-go. “But people also like him because he spends.”
Indeed, the new Tantra boss is incredibly generous. On Aug. 20, for example, he brought the first group of customers to newly revamped Le Pub a-Go-Go and bought several rounds of drinks for ladies and management.
Tantra’s boss genuinely wants others to succeed. “A rising tide lifts all boats” seems to be his motto. If other Walking Street go-gos do better, his will do better.
In that way, Tanta’s top man is an outlier. Few others have their kind of foresight. Only the owner of Sapphire, managers of Fahrenheit, manager of Lighthouse and, to an extent, the new owners of Dragon a-Go-Go can mingle in others’ bars.
Tantra BBQ Party to Be Cookin’
So although he’s only been around for a couple months, the Big Boss’ Tantra BBQ Party will be extremely well attended and a wild night ensured.
