Bangkok’s pub scene has made a big impact over the past decade. There are numerous theme pubs and bars, many of which, are designed and ran very well. Rather than hitting the gogo bars and discos every night, some guys are satisfied with a night out down their local pub. With the increased competition, the smart bar owners are doing their best to provide value for money. We hope you have an enjoyable time in Bangkok. Cheers!
Barbican Pub

Black Swan Pub
326/8-9 Sukhumvit Road – BTS Asok / MRT Sukhumvit
Located near the Asok Junction
Telephone – 02-229-4542
Open Daily – 8:00am-1:00am
This traditional British Pub is so authentic that you almost forget you are in Bangkok. An English expat described the fish ‘n’ chips, as the best he had tasted in Thailand. The friendly owner Dave, sometimes even serves Scottish kippers, albeit when they can get a supply. The regulars in The Black Swan consume one of the largest amounts of draught beer, which proves its popularity. In terms of being an authentic British Pub, (especially the pub grub) you cannot get much better than The Black Swan Pub.
Bully’s Pub remains one of the most popular pubs in the whole of Bangkok. Whatever time of day or night, Bully’s always has customers. There is a HUGE TV screen to watch a wide range of world sports events. Although more upmarket in terms of prices, the food is very good. For an example, try the ‘Bully Burger’ which is served with proper chips! Bully’s leads the way as a modern, American-International theme pub. The newly introduced Aussie lager ‘Pure Blonde’ is now available along with Carlsberg Draught. Cheers for the new beers!
Chequers Sports Pub
Sukhumvit Soi Nana
Telephone – 02-255-3993
Ran by the amicable Nick, this British Pub has a long history in Bangkok. Split over two levels, Chequers always welcomes its customers. An added bonus is that Peter Street has returned to assist with overseeing the pub grub in Chequers. Two large plasma TV screens provide sports fans with excellent viewing. The menu includes all the pub grub you would expect, plus specials like “Doctors Delight.” Popular among sports fans, bar hoppers and socialites. The top level is available for meetings and private parties.Chequers Pub remains one of my regular haunts and I especially enjoy eating here. The British pub grub is authentic and always good value for money.

GULLIVER’S TRAVELLER’S TAVERN
Sukhumvit Soi 5 – BTS Nana
Telephone – 02-655-5340
Popular with tourists and farang families, as well as expat residents. Very large, open plan style theme pub. The drink and food prices are among the very best value for money in Bangkok. Free internet is still available. Multiple TV screens show a variety of live sports. The main TV screen above the bar at the far end is absolutely HUGE. Most of the dishes on the menu are tasty and well priced. I particularly like the English breakfast and the special fried rice. Yummy!
HANRAHAN’S IRISH PUB
Sukhumvit Soi 4 – BTS Nana
Telephone – 02-255-0644-51
Open Daily – 9:00am-1:00am
I call it ‘The Jolly Green Giant’ because this HUGE Irish theme pub is one of the largest in Bangkok. Situated opposite Hillary 2 Bar on Soi Nana, it is stylishly furnished over three levels. Hanrahan’s serve good British pub grub. Various beers on tap are available at very competitive prices.Note that some of the Happy Hour prices are among the best in Bangkok.
HUNTSMAN PUB
Sukhumvit Road – (Landmark Hotel Basement) – BTS Nana
Telephone – 02-254-0404
Large open plan British pub with a broad range of drinks and pub grub. Located in the basement of The Landmark Hotel. Due to its location be prepared to pay more. The talented Filipino band ‘Sweet Inspiration’ are the resident live band. Sweet Inspiration plays six night a week from 9:00 PM until closing time. The lead singer has a superb voice. Well worth a visit. The ‘pub grub’ is fairly authentic, but because of the location, it is more expensive.
Modern Irish theme pub with a large open plan layout. Excellent traditional pub grub, with a wide range of beers and spirits. One of the most popular Irish theme pubs in Thailand.

The Pickled Liver Pub has a modern design, with a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Ran by the popular Englishman Nick. The Pickled Liver has its own following, but newcomers are always made welcome. Reopened in October 2011 at the new location of Sukhumvit Soi 7/1. Very modern and stylish interior design. Serves traditional pub grub.
April 2019 Update! Due to reopen under new ownership following an extensive remodel and refurbishment.

Telephone – 02-662-3390
Open Daily – 10:00am-midnight
Kiwi Pub
Sukhumvit Soi 8 – BTS Nana
Telephone – 02-653-3144
Another one of my favourite pubs in the whole of Thailand. Serves among the best quality and quantity of pub grub in Bangkok. In fact, the Italian dishes are so good, customers say its better than nearby Italian restaurants. From Thai women, I have heard that the Thai food is also particularly good. Something that you should note is that the food portions are LARGE.
April 2019 Update!Kiwi Pub has relocated down the small lane opposite its former location on Sukhumvit Soi 8
