Bangkok’s inimitable live-music entertainer Lee Shamrock is performing on New Year’s Eve at Suzie Wong in Soi Cowboy.
As a one-man band, Lee Shamrock often plays with his instruments and he is also a good musician! The performance at Suzie Wong begins at 9 p.m.
There is a rumor going around that Lee Shamrock’s music is just like the record. When I asked Lee if he had heard about it he replied, “Yes I started the rumor.”
We all know Lee Shamrock is a sexy man but, please ladies, refrain from throwing your underwear at him while he is performing.
When asked if his performance would be banging, Lee replied, “No, I do try to keep my act clean Dave.”
Joking apart, I have never seen another foreign live performer in Thailand with such a wide repertoire of songs, jokes and musical instruments. It makes him a thoroughly entertaining package.
In addition, there are booze ‘n’ babes in abundance, but unique live music entertainment is indeed a rarity.
The legendary British rock band Queen sang, “We Will Rock You” but this event is named “Lee Will Shamrock You!”
Lee Shamrock & Suzie Wong
Until a few months ago, Lee Shamrock had been a fixture on the patio at Suzie Wong every Saturday night. It’s an odd combination of live music and dancing girls, but, during the pandemic, Suzie Wong was doing whatever it could to bring in customers.
Lee Shamrock, of course, has his own band of groupies and they followed him to Soi Cowboy for his Saturday night gigs. His music also attracted “normal” tourists on Soi Cowboy to see in person what they saw in “The Hangover” movies, but are too politically correct or scared to step foot inside Thailand’s version of western strip clubs.
The live music went on for months after Thailand fully reopened in June 2022, but, finally, business was good enough that Suzie Wong’s owner called it quits.
But Lee Shamrock on New Year’s Eve wasa big hit last year and is sure to be again Sunday.
