Patpong fanboys had their hopes crushed when Miami Vice Bangkok, a new go-go club they heralded as a sign of Silom’s resurgence, morphed into a gay bar five days after opening.
The abrupt transformation stunned its early backers, leaving many feeling betrayed. Their dreams of a revived Patpong-Silom area were crushed, especially given that Miami Vice Bangkok was opened by Christian, the well-known former manager of XXX Lounge, who had enticed his old stable of XXX girls to reunite.
As such, Miami Vice Bangkok was touted as a beacon for the resurgence of Silom nightlife, blending nostalgia with contemporary entertainment offerings.

Just days after its soft opening, patrons were surprised to find Miami Vice Bangkok’s social media flooded with images of male entertainers working at the venue near the Sala Daeng BTS station, a clear departure from the initial heterosexual-focused concept.
This sudden change not only disillusioned dedicated Patpong fanboys but also unsettled the club’s original female performers, who found themselves unexpectedly sidelined in the new direction the club had taken.
The club, which sprawls over four floors, but isn’t yet finished, had captured the imagination of many with its nostalgic allure and comprehensive entertainment packages.
Offering experiences ranging from 8,250 baht for a three-hour session with a go-go dancer and a beer tower, to 35,000 baht for an upscale experience with five girls, three bottles, and a private room, Miami Vice seemed poised to become a staple in Patpong’s adult entertainment landscape.
The opening night, a soft launch that brought together the remnants of Electric Blue and XXX Lounge’s community, symbolized a new chapter for both the patrons and the dancers.
The sudden shift in the club’s format has not only left the fanboys mourning the loss of their envisioned nightlife sanctuary, but also cast the former XXX dancers back out into the “wilderness”, searching for permanent homes in Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy.
Licking their wounds, Patpong fanboys grudgingly admitted that, given Miami Vice’s location, it was a smarter move to change to a gay-bar format, as most of the neighboring clubs catered to the LGBTQ+ community.
