Pattaya’s new Jison a-Go-Go may carry a Korean name, but its roots run under Soi 6.

The new club, which opened May 16 in the former Shark a-Go-Go space on Soi 15, is, in fact, not South Korean-owned. It’s the first Walking Street venture from the Better Group, which operates five bars on Soi 6: La La Land, Wet Six, Cooters, Benders and Booty Call.

The group, the “better” rival to Soi 6’s embattled Nightwish group, is run by Sam, who is from the Middle East, not Seoul. The bar’s manager is from Bulgaria.

The reason behind the name isn’t clear, although Jison translates to “bright star”, “wisdom” and “ambition”. And, its doors open less than a week, it’s off to a bright start.

Fast Start for Jison

A visit Friday found the former Shark all shiny and new again. New seating, a new bar stage, new lighting and a new quality sound system. And the house was packed with an estimated 60 ladies with duties ranging from PR to model and coyote.

There was plenty of skin on display and almost as much silicone.

Jison offers draft beer at 105, higher than other places, but, unlike those places, you get served a very large glass of ice cold brew. It’s not a full pint, but it’s close and a very good value.

Party Time Friday

On Friday, Sam was in the house with a group of friends and the girls were reaping the benefits, with thousands of baht in ping pong balls flying followed by pulls of the horn.

The music, as noted, sounded good and was a reasonable playlist with none of the Thai car-alarm techno.

If you’re a westerner, don’t be put off by the Korean name. Everyone is welcome and Jison is a welcome boost to Soi 15.
