Bunny Balcony has closed and two Rainbow bars have been sold to the owner of Wonderland at Nana Plaza where the Soi 4 complexโ€™s largest tenant has been shaking up its lineup.

Bunny Balcony, the bar that, before Covid, was the Balcony Bar, is now closed, after attempts at being both a ladyboy bar and girly chrome-pole palace.

Bunny Balconyโ€™s History

The balcony, overlooking the front of Nana Plaza on the middle floor, was said to be the best thing about Bunny Balcony. Back in the day, when it was operated by the Stumble Inn Group, the then-Balcony Bar was famous for having the cheapest beers in the Plaza. In fact, that bar was merely a lobby for the short-time hotel upstairs, where the real money was made. Prices at Bunny Balcony were normal go-go prices.

But Nana Plaza pulled the plug on all its short-time bars in April 2023 and all of them have now been converted into bars: Bunny Balcony, Lace Lounge above Tycoon and On Top next to Butterflies.

Rainbow 1/2 Sale Confirmed

Bunny Balcony, like all of Nana Plazaโ€™s Bunny bars, shares some ownership interest with the Rainbow group. But the recently combined Rainbow 1 and 2 has been sold to the transgender owner behind Wonderland ladyboy bar in Nana Plaza, Majestics on Soi Cowboy and two go-go bars in Pattaya.

Rumors spread about the sale Saturday after a Nana Plaza bar manager said the Japanese owner of Party Bar had purchased their neighbor. Staff at party were surprised when asked about the purchase as little has been done to upgrade Party since the Hokkaido, Japan hostess bar owner took over and later renamed Erotica in November 2023.

As it turns out, Wonderland’s boss was the buyer. She confirmed the sale became final on Sunday.

Rainbow Roulette

The Rainbow spot long had been the spot of two separate bars, going back to the days London Calling and Rainbow 2. After Covid, those became Rainbow 2 and Pigtails. Pigtails then became Rainbow 1 after the original Rainbow 1 โ€“ located where Bunny 2 is now โ€“ closed and became Blondie. Yes, itโ€™s all very confusing.

The Rainbow group closed the new Rainbow 1 and 2 last year and knocked out the wall between them to create a larger bar that had a better chance of drawing more customers with more girls and more floorspace. But, instead, it ws filled mostly with ladyboys who mixed with natural-born women to create a confusing environment that non-ladyboy lovers avoided.

Las Vegas Holds Grand Opening

The shuffle of bars inside Nana Plaza comes as the Rainbow group celebrated the opening of Las Vegas, a coyote club that, when first announced as Rainbow Nana, was thought to become the first go-go bar on Soi 4 outside of the plaza.

Las Vegas had its soft opening a couple of weeks ago and the Grand Opening Party on Friday. The bar lacks chrome poles, but does have a low middle stage where ladies dance, but in dresses and street clothes, not bikinis.

In that way, itโ€™s fair to call Las Vegas a โ€œcoyote clubโ€, the term that came into fashion around 2010 with the rise of agency girls and coyote dancers who often could not be barfined. The term and the concept have faded in recent years, but the definition applies to Las Vegas, although the girls have no problem with leaving the premises early.

Industry sources say at least half the ladies working at Las Vegas previously worked at Twister and Rainbow 4 or 5, which makes sense given the ownership. As such, itโ€™s a good-looking group overall.
