Nana Plaza fire safety took a major leap forward this week as the Soi 4 complex installed a state-of-the-art system, reinforcing its position as the safest nightlife venue in Bangkok after a March fire raised alarms.

Fire Incident Triggers Upgrades

A minor fire broke out just outside Nana Plaza on March 22. Staff quickly contained the blaze without injuries or major damage, but the incident exposed vulnerabilities in emergency access along Sukhumvit Road. Heavy traffic in central Bangkok can delay fire engines for up to 30 minutes, highlighting the need for faster on-site responses in crowded entertainment areas.

Ownership immediately pledged to strengthen Nana Plaza fire safety. Panthera Group moved quickly to design and install a Nana Plaza fire safety system capable of responding to emergencies within seconds rather than waiting for outside help.

High-Capacity Nana Plaza Fire Safety System Ready to Respond

Panthera Group said the Nana Plaza fire safety investment addresses growing concerns about emergencies Bangkok’s entertainment districts. The company installed nine high-capacity fire suppression units – three per floor – strategically placed to ensure rapid access to any venue inside the complex.

Each Nana Plaza fire safety unit connects to a dedicated internal water supply backed by a full secondary system to maintain pressure during city supply disruptions. According to technical assessments, Nana Plaza now delivers more water pressure per square meter than any other commercial building in Bangkok, significantly improving its ability to control fires before they escalate.

Nana Plaza staff also received hands-on training on how to use the system and hoses.

In addition, Panthera totally rewired Nana Plaza at a cost of more than 10 million baht. The state-of-the-art electrical equipment ensures the electrical system is safe and modern, a massive step towards fire safety.

Management said the Nana Plaza fire safety system aims to set a new benchmark for nightlife venues across the city, combining speed, redundancy and capacity into a single comprehensive system.

Fire Drill Strengthens Emergency Readiness

Following the installation of the new Nana Plaza fire safety system, management conducted a large-scale fire drill April 23 to reinforce the new system’s effectiveness. Tenants and staff participated in the training exercise, led by Bangkok Metropolitan Administration fire officials, who provided hands-on guidance in equipment use and evacuation procedures.

Panthera Group said fire drills are a regular part of operations at Nana Plaza, ensuring that everyone working in the plaza remains familiar with emergency protocols.

Broader Push for Modernization

The Nana Plaza fire safety upgrade forms part of a broader modernization program the go-go bar complex. Over the past decade-plus, Panthera Group invested heavily in infrastructure improvements, including installing a transparent roof to protect patrons during Bangkok’s rainy season, upgrading neon lighting for better visibility, reinforcing internal structures, and expanding a full CCTV security network covering all entrances and public areas.

Management said the March fire served as a reminder that continuous upgrades remain essential, and safety must remain at the center of ongoing redevelopment efforts.

Setting a New Standard for Nightlife Safety

Fire safety concerns have grown across Bangkok’s nightlife sector following several high-profile incidents over the past decade. Dense crowds, narrow alleyways and aging building designs make fast response and self-sufficiency critical for venues operating in areas like Sukhumvit and Silom.

By installing an independent, high-capacity fire suppression system, Nana Plaza offers one of the safest environments among the city’s entertainment hubs.
